The spread of Christianity on originally pagan territories is a complex historical event that occurred on many lands. The Philippines became the target of the Spanish colonizers in the 16th century. Their aim was the usual – to make the islands a part of the Spanish Empire and to impose Christianity on the locals. The latter was accomplished through the work of Spanish missionaries. Compulsory voting has become a topic for heated discussion recently. While some argue every person must vote, others insist on making the process voluntary. On the one hand, elections cannot be completely fair if some groups are excluded from the process. On the other hand, forcing people to participate will result in casting their votes for no matter which candidate, usually leading to donkey (empty) votes. Obviously, both opponents and proponents of compulsory voting have the plausible argument.
